Persuasive Writing

Should New Zealand change its official flag?
Do you think NZ should change its official flag? I think we should change the flag because we have the Union Jack on it and we are not a part of the British Empire any more. Also our flag is too similar to the Australian flag.

Just think about it we are not even a part of the British Empire but we still have the Union Jack symbol on it. NZ has been independent since 1834. So we should have a flag that will have the native icons on it like a kiwi, Koru or a Silver Fern instead of the union jack.

Secondly our flag is constantly getting mistaken with other flags like the Australian flag. We need to be recognized as New Zealanders. We should have our own icons so that it will not get mixed up with other flags and it can be recognized as NZ.

Thirdly  our flag needs a change we have had it for more than 100 years. Also Many other countries have changed their flags recently. So I think NZ should change its official flag.

Overall I think that the NZ flag should be changed. So then it is not similar to the Australian flag, not have the Union Jack on it and NZ will be represented and recognized.
