What is problem solving and does it only happen in maths?

Have you ever wondered what problem solving is?, Well problem solving is when you have an equation/question and you have to use a strategy to solve the equation/question out. It is a very important thing in maths, But it is not only used for maths.

Problem solving can help you in situations... Eg: I had 35$ and I had to pay for the school trip which costs 25$, How much money do I have left and how should I spend that money.

Overall I think problem solving is when you solve out an equation/question using strategies, And that it is not only used for maths, Since it can be used for situations.

Today I wrote a paragraph on what is problem solving and does it only happen in maths. After that I got paired up with Paige and we both checked each others paragraph. We went on the rubric and went to the organization part we then gave each other feedback and feed forward.

Multiplication

Today room 5 learnt different ways on how to solve multiplication equations. We have used the 7 times table for examples. As you can see in my poster I have done - Skip counting, groups of, Factors and repeated addition.

Today I solved out another word problem. This was kind of tricky so I had to think hard. But at the end I got my answer.

Grid Challenge

Today room 5 played a new game called grid challenge. We played this to practise our times tables. The aim of this game was to get the least amount of squares that haven't been drawn up. There was a time limit of 10 minutes. My partner was Zeba. She had 98 squares left and I had 100 squares left which meant she won.

Today I had a really tough question to solve. But in the end I got the answer. I remembered to use my subtraction and my addition.
