On Wednesday room 5 went to room 12 to play xylophones. We first learnt when the Saints go marching in. It was a little bit difficult because there was 4 lines to do. We then tried it as a class but it didn't really sound good, So we had to get in pairs and play it the same time as our partner. After that we had to find another pair so we could all play at the same time. Each group played the song and then we all tried it at the same time and we did a lot better.

Basketball
Today room 5 went to Basketball for our 2nd session with Coach Mark and Millie. We first talked about what we learnt/did in our 1st session. After that we did some warm ups to get energized and motivated so that we can play. For our warm up we had sprints, we had to tap the ball above our head with our fingertips and also dribbling the ball. We then learnt how to dribble the ball and cup the ball. To dribble the ball we needed to look straight and dribble with our finger tips. To cup the ball we needed to hold the ball between our finger tips and wrist. At the end we did relays which was dribble the ball and go around the chair and come back.

Run, Jump, Throw
Today we had another session of run, jump, throw with Andy. We learnt new skills in shout put and discus. For shout put we learnt where to stand and how to throw it. We had to remember dirty fingers, dirty neck and clean palms. This means we have to hold the shout put in our fingers and not on the palm. Also we had to keep it under our ear or just in front of it and your elbow has to be high . Our next thing we had to remember was chin, knee, toe all in a row. This is where we had to have chin facing the opposite side of where we are going to throw, bend you knee and lifting your toe a little bit. Our last thing was low to high and watch it fly. This meant that we had to make our body go low then go back up and throw the shout put. For discus we learnt where to hold it and how to throw it. Our first thing we had to remember was grip, shelf, should fall if hand is upside down and 3rd knuckle. This means we had to hold the discus from our first joint of our hand and if we hold it correctly it should fall down when we have our hand upside down. Our next thing was swing up, clap back, and chin knee toe. This is where we had to swing our arms to the front and then with the other arm we had to place it on the discus then we had to do the same thing as the shout put chin knee toe witch was having chin facing the opposite side of where we are going to throw, bending you knee and lifting your toe a little bit. Our last one was low to high watch it fly and fling it fast. This means we needed to do the same thing as shout put go down and then go back up. After that we had to fling it fast do get a good distance. I think next time I need to try and keep my elbow maintained high because sometimes it was low.

Run Jump Throw
Today we had another session of run, jump, throw with Andy. This time we learnt about long and high jump. On long jump you will need to remember to swing your arms, have bent knees, look straight and also to have a two foot landing. For high jump (scissor) you will need to have slightly bent knees, run from an angle, quick action, leading arm, jump from the side of your leg.

Run Jump Throw
This morning we went to our kiwi sport called Run Jump Throw. It was our first time doing it. We learnt that to run fast and properly. You will need to follow these rules: Look straight, cheek to cheek with your arms, light feet and high knees, to start a sprint you should not look at the starter and the difference between long distance and short distance is that long distance doesn't have get set go in their wording. While we were practising running and doing the hurdles Mrs Anderson videoed us so then we can compare how we run to other people.
